River's Edge is the culmination of the merger of two very successful music ministries, The Wishons, and Rejoice.
John Wishon, serves as lead and tenor vocalist for River's Edge as well as handles the stage emcee work for the group. John has been singing with his parents since 1982. John owns a Christian radio station in Wilkesboro, NC and is one of the most sought after evangelists and revival preachers on the east coast. John's wife, Rebecca has been singing gospel music for virtually her whole life. The daughter of a pastor, she began singing at a very young age. In the late 1990's, she teamed with Sherri Vestal for several years in the group Rejoice!. Now, as only God could orchestrate, they are singing together once again. Night after night, Rebecca amazes audiences with her powerful, from the heart vocal abilities. Rebecca is a physical education teacher at Mountain View Elementary School in Hays, NC. Rebecca and John have two beautiful children, Miles and Riley.
Alto, Sherri Vestal is originally from LaGrange, Georgia, where she sang with her family for many years. In 1997, she founded the female trio, Rejoice!, which traveled and ministered a busy schedule for 16 years until their “retirement” in December, 2013. She is an accomplished pianist and organist, and even today plays at her home church, Cathedral of Praise, when the River's Edge schedule permits. Sherri does most of the musical arranging for the group, and her gifts of musical imagination and innovation contribute greatly to River's Edge unique sound and style, and her rich alto voice is a real asset to the group. She now resides in Greensboro, North Carolina with her husband, Mark (who also travels most weekends with the group). They have two children, Ben and Tyler. Tyler is the pianist for the popular Southern Gospel Quartet ""Signature Sound"".
The members of River's Edge love the harmony they sing and the fun they have together on the road. However, at the heart of this group, you will find a passion for ministry. River's Edge is committed to boldly proclaiming that Jesus really does love you, he cares, and he understands.
Psalm 46:4 (KJV)
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God......
